try a scalpel if you can purchase one. in my eyes much more suitable, because the tip of the blade is rounded, which allows to follow curves easier. if you buy one seek for "swann morton". use only #4 stainless steel handles and equip them with those blades which are best for your needs (i use blades #20 and #23). see this page from swann-morton.

you know, it's sort of scary how similar x-acto knives are to surgical knives. though not as industrial, they come close enough for a striking resemblance. i have seen x-acto blades that look like your #20 blades, so maybe i'll give them a shot. if that doesn't work out, i've got swann-morton bookmarked.
